If you’ve been following me for a while, you might remember that I previously attended Benefits launch night for their ‘They’re Real’ Mascara & Eyeliner – and had the best time! (You can read about that HERE). So when we saw that they were organising another evening to showcase their new Hoola range, we got ourselves signed up asap!
We all know and love Benefit’s Hoola bronzing powder, which has been a staple item in many a contouring queen’s makeup bag for a while now. But Benefit have decided to capitalise on this and bring out further products…creating a Hoola line.
The new products include the following:
- Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer
- Hoola Zero Tanlines Body Bronzer
- Shy Beam Liquid Highlighter
- Hoola Bronzing and Contouring Brush
Anyone that’s aware of Benefit, knows that the marketing and quirky names/slogans also play a part in the build up and sale of their products. To some it might seem a bit gimmicky (which I think this line might be in danger of falling into), but that’s all part of the Benefit brand and so many people love this side too.
Their quirky side is possibly why they’re one of the few (if not only) makeup brands that organise launch nights for their new ranges though – and as these evenings are so good, we can let them off with the cheesy names! 😀
We were welcomed with a glass of fizz on arrival (and copious amounts of refills!) along with some cute little cupcakes and nibbles. After taking our seats and checking out our goody bags (with mini samples of Porefessional and Puff Off Eye Gel, a voucher for their Brow Bar and selection of little perfume samples), the girls got to work…
Using the Shy Beam (mixed with a little Erase Paste) as a matte highlighter, it did create a lovely look – although I don’t think there was anything unique about it.
My favourite of the range is probably the Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer. It does the same job as if you chose to contour using a darker foundation – but its easier to adopt into a day to day makeup routine for the standard user. The thinner consistency of the liquid, means that it can also be applied on top of foundation, without becoming too thick. I’m tempted to try out this one, so watch this space.
For my Sister and I, darker is always better when it comes to tan, so this one probably doesn’t quite hit what we’re looking for…without applying a couple of layers! If your a pale skinned girl however, who’s a bit nervous about using a fake tan, then this one could be for you.
All in all a great night – so thanks Benefit for having us!!
