It’s been a big year for Linton & Mac, who within the past 12 months have become Aberdeen’s go to place for hair, makeup & nails and a won host of industry and business awards – including Best Business in Scotland at the Scottish Business Awards held in Edinburgh last week (28th August 2016).
Since launching last year (September 2015), the original team of 10 has more than doubled in size and the salon now employs 25 members of staff, adding to the skills and services the salon can offer.
After sending out an open invite on social media to all customers and friends of the Salon, Linton & Mac’s 1st Birthday Bash had all the elements of an event not to be missed. With Proper Corn, Porters Gin and Fierce beer kitting out the party, my friend and I headed along on Saturday to join in on the fun!
We were greeted by the lovely Just Julia with a glass of Prosecco and told that there were 50 trolls placed around the salon – if you were lucky enough to find one of a hidden selection of trolls (who had been decorated with white feet) a prize would be yours!! We quickly set to work to bag ourselves one of the coveted trolls (and claim our prizes) and luckily we were both successful! We left our names and number on our way out – so our prize remains a mystery to us for now.
Once we had the prize in the bag and topped ourselves up with some Porters Gin and Tonic (garnished with some strawberries and black pepper!) we made our way round and had a nosey through the various style books (for hair and makeup inspo). The girls do suggest that if you have an appointment to bring in any pictures that you’d like, but these look books also provide some great style ideas.
We also caught up with HJC styling, who had styled the beautiful models on the day (the girls did a great job of showcasing their hair, makeup (who knew green lipstick could look so cool!) and outfits).
HJC Styling is an Aberdeen based styling service that offers online, at home or personal shopping packages. It’s so nice to see something like this in Aberdeen and I really hope to take advantage of the Fashion Workshop – organising an alternative girly night in where the designer will chat through up and comin trends, as well as discussing body proportions etc. I will be sure to post to let you know how it goes!!
Back to the event and the girls Jennifer & Joanna took the floor to thank everyone for their support over the past few years. The passion that both girls have for their business and industry is amazing to see and their success is truly deserved.
We enjoyed the rest of our time there sampling refreshments & snacks, mixing with friends, fellow bloggers and also meeting more of the Linton & Mac staff. A brilliant day out and I hope that the girls and salon have many more years of celebrating – leading on to even bigger things for them!
