Perfect Red Lipsticks for Valentine’s Day 💋 (inc tips for that perfect pout!)

I’ve never been much of a Valentines Day fan (I’m a proper romantic I am 🙈!), but it does give a good excuse to pucker up with some sexy red lipstick, which is much more up my street 😀!

Red Lipstick is always my go to, whether it’s to compliment a glam look…

To brighten up a cold February day…

Or just to add a bit of a statement…

If you find the right shade, it can completely transfer a smile (or pout)…but before I list some of my favourite Red Lippies, lets just take a minute to run through a little lip care

  1. Before applying lipstick (especially if it’s a matte finish), I always make sure that my lips are smooth and in good condition. A Lip Exfoliator is fab for this….and if you go for a sugar scrub from Lush, it tastes delicious too!!
  2. Use a Primer.  Yes Primer is not just a winner when it comes to skincare, but using a Primer such as MAC Prep + Prime Lip, it will also help to nourish and smooth lips before the application of lipstick, as well as helping to reduce lipstick feathering and give your lippie a professional and flawless finish.
  3. Lip Liner is a must when it comes to giving your red lipstick a clean edge and preventing bleeding. Always make sure that your pencil is nice and sharp before you use it.
  4. Maintenance.  If you’re eating and drinking, naturally your red lips will need reapplied.  Make sure you blot your lips with a napkin before topping back up.

The following lipsticks are all favourites of mine, but Bobbi Brown’s Red Carpet is always my ‘go-to’ 💋

Bobbi Brown – Lux Matte Lip Colour : Red Carpet – £28

Charlotte Tilburty – K.I.S.S.I.N.G. : Love Bite – £24

MAC – Retro Matte Lipstick : Ruby Woo – £17.50

My last choice isn’t a Red, but with this super cute valentines edition I had to include it in my list!

Lancôme – L’absolu Rouge Valentines Edition : Rose Lancôme – £27

What’s your go to shade? Have tried any of the above and if so, what’s your thoughts?
